About AISC
What is AISC Certification?

AISC Quality Certification sets a standard for the steel industry.  Sunward Consolidated Group's affiliate manufacturers, Rockford Manufacturing, Sunward Corporation, and WedgCor, Incorporated, are certified by AISC, the American Institute of Steel Construction, Inc.  These manufacturing facilities have had rigorous initial evaluations, and are subject to yearly reviews.  AISC's independent auditing company, Quality Management Company, LLC, confirms that the WedgCor, Rockford, and Sunward manufacturing and engineering facilities have sufficient capability and control procedures to maintain conformance with established design practices, applicable code requirements and product quality criteria.

How Does it Work?

The program evaluates the basic administrative organization and the design, fabrication and quality assurance procedures and practices employed by a manufacturer in relation to the organization's functional capability to produce quality metal building systems of predictable structural performance that can meet all public safety requirements imposed by the governing building code.

The program also certifies that manufacturers have undergone a rigorous examination of their organization, professional engineering and manufacturing policies, procedures and practices, including their quality assurance standards and controls over each function, and have been found to meet the requirements for certification as set forth in the AISC, CATEGORY MB, METAL BUILDING SYSTEMS QUALITY CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (the "Program").

How Does the Company and Consumer Benefit?

While the pre-qualification aspect of the program is important, the long-term benefits for our manufacturing and engineering facilities are the periodic reviews and maintenance of quality systems and procedures.  One of its main objectives is to aid, assist and encourage all metal building systems industry manufactures and the various code authorities to adopt the Program in order to improve the integrity of design and quality of fabrication within the industry for the benefit of the consumer.

Why Should You Choose a Certified Manufacturer?

Many government agencies, municipalities and engineering design firms specify AISC certification to assure quality. Certification is a statement to owners, specifiers, and the construction industry that says, "Quality is built-in!"  How much time, money, and productivity do you lose to nonconformance? AISC Certification provides a management tool, specific to the steel industry that assesses everything from initial order entry to the steel shipped out the door.

It is vital to you as an individual consumer, or your company, to have an outstanding reputation for turning out a quality project. Participation in the Certification Program provides specifiers, owners, and general contractors with assurance that our manufacturing facilities have the personnel, experience, knowledge, and equipment to deliver a quality project every time.
